AFS Charity Golf Tourament Supports Airborne Law Enforcement And ARMY Aviation Scholarship Foundations

ST. LOUIS, Mo., September 27, 2010 – Aerospace Filtration Systems, Inc. (AFS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Donaldson Company, Inc. (NYSE:DCI) and a division of the Aerospace & Defense group, sponsored its Fourth Annual Charity Golf Tournament and raised nearly $30,000 for the St. Louis Metro Airborne Law Enforcement Foundation and the Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA) Scholarship Foundation.

The tournament, at the Falls at Turtle Creek Golf Club in O’Fallon, Mo., attracted more than 120 participants in an 18-hole, four-person “scramble” on Saturday, Aug. 28.  The event featured lunch, dinner and prizes.

“We’re delighted that everyone had a great time at the tournament, but we’re really proud that the event and our participants contributed $28,000 to the wonderful organizations our tournament was established to support,” said Mike Scimone, president of Donaldson’s St. Louis operation. “The Donaldson team is completely committed to the entire rotorcraft industry, but military and law enforcement helicopter units truly are special, deserving of support and thanks from all Americans.” The total donation included $15,000 from the Donaldson Foundation to directly benefit the AAAA Lindbergh Chapter in the St. Louis area.

The St. Louis County Police Department has provided metropolitan area helicopter patrol and search and rescue services for nearly 40 years and combined resources with the St. Louis Police and St. Charles County Sheriff in 2004.  In 2009, the unit answered more than 2,300 calls for help, located 20 missing persons and helped to recover nearly $1.5 million in property.  Because local law enforcement budgets do not fully cover the airborne unit’s costs, Metro Air Support, as it is known, has established a Foundation to raise additional funds and endow the operation.  Donaldson’s St. Louis location and its helicopter filtration systems have given the company a close and natural connection to Metro Air Support.

The AAAA is a national organization with 70 local and regional chapters and more than 17,000 members who support U.S. Army Aviation soldiers and families.  The AAAA Scholarship Foundation provides college grants and interest-free loans for members and their families and the families of deceased AAAA members.  Since its start in 1963, the Foundation has awarded more than $4 million to more than 2,000 qualified applicants.
