The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration recognizes the National Center for Aerospace and Transportation Technologies (NCATT) Aircraft Electronics Technician (AET) certification as equivalent to formal training when determining eligibility for a repairman certificate. This action helps simplify the application process for repairman certification, strengthening efforts to recruit and retain avionics technicians in this innovative and fast-growing industry.
Airbus Helicopters and Helisim Break Ground on Expanded North American Training Center

Airbus Helicopters Inc. and Helisim have broken ground on a new, state-of-the-art helicopter pilot and maintenance crew training center in Grand Prairie, TX.  With an initial investment of $40 million, the Helisim Simulation Center will provide introductory and recurrent training to thousands of pilot personnel each year. The first stage of the new facility is scheduled for completion later this year when the first new Thales Reality H Level D full-motion flight simulator will be delivered.

The first application of the Safran Hybrid-Electric Propulsion System (HEPS), the Bell Nexus, is officially unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The propulsion solution of this multi-rotor vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft is capable of producing more than 600 kWe power. During ground tests last June the system produced 100 kWe. Further tests will be carried out next year.
